What are Stirrups?

Reo Fitments are closed-loop steel reinforcements, usually made from reinforcing bars (rebar). They are primarily used in beams and columns within concrete structures to resist shear forces and ensure the stability and integrity of the concrete under load.
Stirrups prevent diagonal shear cracks in beams and columns by resisting the shear forces that develop when loads are applied. Concrete alone is weak in tension and shear, so reo stirrups help reinforce it.
In columns, stirrups wrap around vertical rebars and help confine the core of the concrete, improving its compressive strength, particularly under axial loads. Stirrups are typically U-shaped, rectangular, or circular, depending on the cross-section of the beam or column.
RWAP manufacturing and supplies custom sizes and shapes of Reo stirrup / Reo ligatures, and the quality of RWAP reinforcing steel meets the Australian Standard and certified by ACRS.

Advantages of Rebar Stirrup

By effectively resisting shear forces and securely holding the reo bars in place, fitments play a crucial role in preventing collapse and structural failure. Furthermore, reo stirrups significantly enhance the ductility of concrete structures, ensuring increased flexibility under heavy loads, such as seismic activity. Especially in areas that are prone to earthquakes and large and small tremors, strengthening the infrastructure and building columns is absolutely vital. Laws require that the infrastructure be designed and reinforced steel to maintain structural integrity over time. This includes rules for materials, like using the correct grade of concrete or concrete rebar / steel reinforcement (rebars, stirrups, pile cages / rebar pie and etc.), ensuring that the building can withstand expected loads (e.g., weight, wind, seismic activity), and other environmental stresses. Many regions enforce laws related to earthquake-resistant designs, hurricane-proofing, and flood prevention measures. For instance, in seismic zones, structures must have added reinforcements like seismic reo stirrups and ductile designs to absorb and dissipate the forces generated during earthquakes. This not only ensures the safety of inhabitants but also reduces the overall economic impact of natural disasters.

Stirrups' Price

Stirrups / fitments are usually shaped in closed loops, such as rectangles or U-shapes, and come in various lengths ranging from 1 to 2 feet. Custom shapes or larger sizes may increase the price due to additional labor involved in bending and shaping the reinforcing steel.
The cost of rebar stirrup can vary depending on several factors such as the size, shape, material, and location. Generally, post stirrups are made from bent rebar and are priced either per piece or per unit weight (typically in kilograms).
For custom-made stirrups, which require specific bending or sizing, the cost could be slightly higher due to labor costs for forming the rebar into the desired shape.
Factors Influencing Cost:
Material: Higher grade steel or galvanized reo bars will cost more.
Quantity: Bulk orders may reduce the per-piece price of reos.
Labor: If stirrups are custom-made or require special bending, the labor involved can increase costs.
